Can You Hear Me? ‘Time to Change’ grants programme – developing Kitchen Theatre Sets for a mental health project – featured image DETAIL ‘Retro Kitchen.
Funded by ‘Time to Change’ grants programme, exploring mental health with lesbian and bisexual women.
In 2013, The LGBT Foundation, Artist Charlotte Newson & Creative Curve, a UK based Arts Organisation developed the project Can You Hear Me (CYHM?) challenging the myths and misconceptions that often lead people to misunderstand the lives of lesbian and bisexual women who live with mental health issues.
Participants developed and built individual theatre sets – of Kitchens – and invited the public to “Have a chat and a brew over the kitchen table” inside those very individual sets.
We welcomed a staggering 629 people and recorded 890 meaningful conversations
By telling their stories, these women helped to shatter assumptions, challenge stereotypes and help visitors confront some of their own struggles.
